In many parts of indonesia, the kebaya is seen as a strong nationalistic symbol and has been strongly supported as a symbol of identity for indonesian women by prominent figures throughout the nation's history.
Recently, this indonesian dress has become recognized internationally as it is used as the uniform for flight attendance (stewardesses) on singapore airlines, malaysia airlines, and garuda indonesia.
It's okay if other countries wear this costume as their stewardesses' uniform as long as they don't claim it as their own costume and it'll be much better if they promote our costume. indonesian people must protect this traditional costume from other countries who would take or steal the ownership of this original costume from indonesia.

From the opinions above, we can conclude that kebaya is expensive enough because we have to make it as the users' request and the materials are also expensive.
The only way to protect our culture as the young generation is by using kebaya especially on the big days (ex: independence day) and we have to think about the new designs that can make people think, "Kebaya is not old-fashioned".
